Juneteenth: A Day for Cultural Ed & Reflection

At TimeXtender, our company culture is centered on our team. We are the sum of every individual who makes us great and we call ourselves the X-People. Together, we are a force to be reckoned with, but only because that force is so deeply rooted in the understanding of, and appreciation for, the unique set of skills and experiences each individual brings to the table.

In order to fully understand the depths of the X-People, we also have to understand the many different backgrounds and the broader communities we all come from. We believe it is important for us, as a company, to allocate time to highlighting some of these communities so that as a team, we can learn more about each of our team members' shared experiences. In line with this effort and in solidarity with the American team's celebration of Juneteenth, we have awarded our employees an Xtra Karma Day, typically used for community service initiatives, to educate ourselves and reflect on the many facets of our diverse cultural backgrounds that make us a powerful collective known as the X-People.

For those who are not aware, Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration honoring the end of slavery in the United States. While the celebration is rooted in American History, the day is also celebrated outside the United States, with organizations in a number of countries using the day to recognize the end of slavery and to celebrate the culture and achievements of African Americans.

In light of the recent social climate, progressive policy changes taking place globally, and our steadfast belief in continuing our own educational journeys, we will be taking time out of our typical business objectives today to focus on this journey of personal reflection and education. We hope this day of reflection will make us stronger as a unit and plan to execute this day of education and reflection annually on this date.

In honor of Juneteenth, below is a list of activities you can participate in from home if you choose to celebrate and educate yourself about this monumental moment in American history:

With our collective commitment to the goals of understanding and acceptance, we are a strong and united team. We invite you to take time out of your day to listen, learn, engage, and amplify your own messages of solidarity with our global community as we all take a deeper dive into our own personal reflections, shared experiences, and moments of cultural significance.
